Shout out to Daniel L, a fellow member of arguably the best ‘value’ wine retailer in the UK (more of that later)…for it was he that made me buy this wine with his stunning and detailed review…
“Everything is done well.”
Ok, yes, there was more to his review, but I wholeheartedly agree with Daniel!
The wine was right in my wheelhouse (for our American readers) giving lots of brightness and freshness (one for Mrs H there too) and in turn a real purity and precision to the wine - it’s easy drinking put it that way! Lovely red fruits and some blueberry notes shone through, bound together with a good dose of acidity giving an overall fab balance to the wine. It’s a real pleasure to drink!
In Daniel’s words “…it's the acidity/balance that really makes this ping” and I couldn't agree more!
Maybe a slight niggle is the price. With my friends voices ringing in my ears, “how much?”, should it really qualify as my ‘Wine of the Week’? Listen, value is a complex concept which can demand a lengthy discussion. But for me, The Wine Society is arguably the best value retailer in the UK and therefore I’m more than happy to take that as my guarantee! Also, drinking the wine made me happy and think about the great trips I’ve been lucky enough to go on to the Montsant (and nearby Priorat)…so again that’s enough for me. Salud!
